Radio and TV personality Lenard
McKelvey, known professionally as Charlamagne Tha God, recently
explained to Larry King his theory on homophobia.
The 34-year-old Charlamagne currently
co-hosts syndicated radio show The Breakfast Club with DJ Envy and
Angela Yee.
During an appearance on Larry King
Now, a fan from New York asked about LGBT acceptance in the rap
and hip hop communities.
“I have a theory about homophobia,”
Charlamagne answered. “My theory about homophobia is, like, what
are you scared of?”
“You're either scared of gay people
or you're scared that you may be gay.”
Charlamagne added that he thinks a lot
of people are homophobic because of their own insecurities.
“And what I mean by that is, guys
we've basically, for lack of a better term, defecated on women for
years. Like we've always not shown women any respect. … And I feel
like we're afraid of our own karma and afraid that guys are gonna do
us like that.” (The video is embedded on this page. Visit
