In a video to fans, Rosie O'Donnell
explains her reasons for leaving The View for a second time.
Variety first reported that
O'Donnell was leaving the ABC daytime talk show to concentrate on her
family after splitting up with wife Michelle Rounds.
In January 2013, Rounds gave birth to
daughter Dakota, roughly six months after she and O'Donnell exchanged
vows in New York. O'Donnell also has four children from previous
relationships.
In a nearly 2-minute video, O'Donnell
said her decision to quit The View was health related.
“The truth is, I had a heart attack
two years ago, and stress is very bad for heart attack survivors,”
O'Donnell said. “I'm minimizing my stress by leaving The View.”
“Marriage is complicated and I've got
five kids, four of them are teenagers. And there's lots of stuff
going on at home and there's lots of stuff going on at work, and the
only thing I can really control is the work – by leaving,” she
added.
O'Donnell's last day on the show is
Thursday.
