Singer LeAnn Rimes has said that she's
“super proud” of Ty Herndon and Billy Gilman for coming out gay.
The 32-year-old Rimes, who is currently
promoting her new album, One
Christmas: Chapter 1, told GLAAD: All Access that she hopes the
coming outs mean the country music community is ready to support
openly gay artists.
“I hope that we're moving forward and
not back,” Rimes said.
“I knew that this was all about to
happen,” she said of Herndon's
coming out. “And he actually texted me right before it
happened. I'm so proud of him. I know how scary it was for him to
have to do that, you know. I think that it's so powerful that he did
it and Billy came out right after that and he inspired someone.”
