Singer-guitarist Laura Jane Grace of
the band Against Me! discussed coming out transgender during an
appearance on Larry King Now.
“What's the biggest misconception
people have?” host Larry King asked.
“I think oftentimes it's just that
you're telling them that you're a totally different person,” Grace
answered. “You know, like for me coming out to my friends and
family, I thought that they thought that I was also saying like I
don't actually like the type of music that I like or I don't actually
have this personality or the same sense of humor or anything like
that.”'
“It's just a really small detail when
it comes down to it, you know, and pretty inconsequential,” she
added. (The video is embedded on this page. Visit

Grace came out transgender in a 2012
Rolling Stone interview.
The title track of Against Me!'s latest
studio album, Transgender Dysphoria Blues, released on the
singer's own label, Total Treble, takes a raw look at transphobia.
