Discovery Life Channel on Monday
announced that its first original series, Those Girls, will
offer an authentic look at a group of transgender friends living in
Kansas City.
Those Girls (working title) is
set to premiere in March.
The docu-series follows the lives of
five transgender women, including best friends Kassidy and Chloe, who
are transitioning together; couple Tanya and Jaime, who are dealing
with child-related issues with Tanya's ex-wife; married couple Macy
and Sharon, whose relationship is evolving during Macy's transition;
and couple Robyn and Andrew, previously best friends before Robyn's
transition.
Jane Latman, general manager of
Discovery Life Channel, said Those Girls “embodies what
Discovery Life Channel is meant to be – a place for people from all
walks of life to have their stories told without a filter, and I am
thrilled that this is the first series we're announcing as our own.”
“No manufacturing, no scripts, no
concocted storylines, Those Girls is an inspiring, surprising,
and entertaining look at an amazing group of women who just happen to
be transgender,” she added.
Discovery Life Channel will debut on
January 15.
