The West Hollywood murder mystery
Kiss Me, Kill Me from director Casper Andreas (Going Down in
LA-LA Land, The Big Gay Musical) and screenwriter David Michael
Barrett (Such Good People, Bad Actress) reached its
Kickstarter funding goal on Sunday.
The film's Kickstarter
campaign, which ends later this week, raised $106,412 from 717
backers as of Monday morning. Producers hope to reach $125,000 in a
“stretch goal” before the campaign ends on Wednesday.
The film marks the return of Gale
Harold in his first gay role since his iconic performance as Brian
Kinney on the groundbreaking Showtime drama Queer as Folk.
Three-time Emmy nominee Van Hansis (As the World Turns,
Eastsiders) also stars in the movie.
Producers describe the film as a
“contemporary Alfred Hitchcock/Agatha Christie-style
'who-done-it.'”
The mystery is centered on Dusty, “who
confronts his unfaithful boyfriend and blacks-out, only to wake up to
find his boyfriend murdered and he's the prime suspect.”
“The huge success of this campaign is
a reminder [of] how important movies with LGBT content are to
audiences,” Andreas said in a statement. “Hollywood is not
producing these sort of films, and we would not be able to do it
without the fans.”
Additional stars joining the film
include Willam Belli (RuPaul's Drag Race), Kit Williamson
(Eastsiders, Mad Men), Jackie Monahan (Codependent Lesbian
Space Alien Seeks Same) and Michael Maize (True Blood).
