Reality star Charlie King has come out
gay.
“I'm Charlie. I'm 29-years-old. I'm
a gay man and I'm very comfortable with that,” King said during a
live interview on ITV's This Morning.
During his stint on The Only Way Is
Essex (TOWIE), King “categorically” denied he was gay.
“I feel like I'm ready now. And even
though I'm nervous sitting here still talking about it, I know that
the time is now,” he said.
“They followed my storyline [On The
Only Way Is Essex], which was very much about that subject,
because I never really knew where I belonged. I never knew where I
fitted in. And it was something that I had to address.”
King was joined by journalist James
Ingham on the program. Both discussed the difficulties of coming out
in 2014.
“Our stories will help people. There
is a way out. You are not alone,” King said. “I want to be a
positive person, telling people 'you can do this.'”
