This week's gathering of anti-gay, anti-abortion rights activists in Moscow ended with an urgent appeal to the world to adopt more Russian-style “homosexual propaganda” bans.

According to Right Wing Watch, American activists who attended the event include Brian Brown, president of the National Organization for Marriage (NOM) and representatives from the Catholic Family and Human Rights Institute, the Christian Broadcasting Network (CBN), Personhood USA and Family Watch International.

The forum was originally being organized by the Illinois-based World Congress of Families, though the group officially “suspended” its involvement after Russia invaded Ukraine.

In their “urgent appeal,” delegates express their “profound concern because certain countries are pursing tenacious policies and an unprecedented propaganda campaign, all of which is leading to the ultimate destruction of the Natural Family - an institution that in a civilized society is the foundation of order, state’s prosperity and social peace” and vow to “uphold the interests of children and to work for the adoption of legislative bans on all types of propaganda concerning homosexual relationships in the environment of children and juveniles” and to support research on “the negative social and psychological effects of raising children in same-gender couples.”

It was not clear whether American representatives signed onto the resolution.
