Writer J.K. Rowling over the weekend
responded to a former Harry Potter fan who said he lost
interest in the series after Rowling revealed that Albus Dumbledore
is gay.
“@jk_rowling once u revealed
Dumbledore was homosexual I stopped being a fan,” Frank Fraticelli
messaged Rowling on Twitter. “Nice how u blindsided us with that
one. Enjoy your billion $.”
Rowling revealed the master wizard's
sexual orientation in 2007.
“I advise you to start following
Brian Souter at once,” she replied, a reference to Scotland's
richest businessman known opposing gay rights. “He's much more
your kind of person.”
Fraticelli responded that had fans
known about Dumbledore's sexuality “many Christians would not have
bought it. The networks may have shied away from it.”
“I want to thank all the people
tweeting me lovely messages,” Rowling responded. “Don't worry
about me – to paraphrase Albus Dumbledore … If you're waiting for
universal popularity, you'll be on Twitter a VERY long time. xxxx.”
Fraticelli has since protected his
tweets, according to The
New Civil Rights Movement.
