Brian May, lead guitarist of the band
Queen, has credited out singer Adam Lambert with bringing Queen back
to life.
American Idol alum Lambert is
fronting the band on a world tour currently docked in Japan.
Queen's iconic frontman Freddie Mercury
died in 1991 of complications due to AIDS.
Speaking to Eddie
Trunk, May said that after Mercury's passing, the band “didn't
try to be Queen in any way.”
“There's a big call to do more shows
now, so there's a good possibility that we will do more shows,” May
said. “I think, beyond that, we'll just see.”
“I feel so fortunate to be going out
there. I never thought it would happen again. When Freddie went, I
thought, 'That's it. It was a great life. Now, it's time to have a
different life.'”
“And for years we didn't try to be
Queen in any way.”
“I think he's [Lambert] woken us up,”
he added.
