The campaign to increase support for marriage equality in Ohio released a new 30-second ad on Tuesday.

According to advocacy group Why Marriage Matters Ohio, the ad is running in major Ohio television markets.

In the ad, Henry Hawley and George Vassos of Chagrin Falls talk about marrying in New York after sharing their lives for 50 years.

“I can't imagine my life without Henry,” George says in the ad.

“There aren't too many who have 50 years together and I think we're very fortunate to have had that,” Henry says.

“Well, we got married October 25,” George says. “We're really fortunate that the country is turning around, 19 states so far and hopefully Ohio will be next.” (The video is embedded on this page. Visit our video library for more videos.)

The ad comes as supporters prepare for an August 6 hearing before the Cincinnati-based Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals. The court will hear back-to-back appeals in cases challenging marriage bans in Ohio, Michigan, Tennessee and Kentucky.
