Cathie Adams, the head of the Texas
chapter of the conservative Eagle Forum, has stated that she pressed
for anti-gay language in the Texas Republican Party platform because
she loves gays.
Adams, the former chairwoman of the
Texas GOP, worked to keep language in the platform stating that
“homosexuality tears at the fabric of society” and add language
endorsing therapies aimed at turning gay people straight.

GOP endorses “ex-gay” therapy in platform.)
In the end, she won only half the
battle, with party delegates removing the “fabric of society”
language and adding the “ex-gay” therapy endorsement.
Right
Wing Watch points us to comments Adams made on Facebook in
response to its reporting on her crusade.
In response to a commeter opposed to
the language, Adams wrote, “Homosexuality is NOT NORMAL behavior,”
and, “When sin is flouted it cannot be ignored,” and “I love
you! And want the BEST for you now and in eternity.”
