President Barack Obama will headline a
major Democratic National Convention (DNC) LGBT gala in New York next
month.
The June 17 fundraiser will take place
at New York's Gotham Hall, Politico.com
reported. NY1
added that DNC chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz will also
attend the event.
On the same day, the president will
also attend a DNC event hosted by Vogue editor Anna Wintour, a
strong supporter of LGBT rights.
“Under the President, we have seen
more progress for our community than under any other administration
in U.S. history,” DNC officials wrote.
“From hospital visitation rights, to
workplace protections for transgender federal employees, to
supporting marriage equality, we have so much to be proud of – and
so much at stake in 2014.”
