The documentary Gaming in Color
explores the world of LGBT gaming.
After successfully raising more than
$51,000 on Kickstarter last year, the film is available
for download for as little as $1, though $15 is suggested.
“A lot of the film's message is aimed
at people who don't understand the need for queer characters or the
fight against bigotry,” director
Phillips Jones told Polygon.com. “The queer gaming community
has always existed, and it's only been getting stronger as the years
go by.”
“This film has been a long time
coming. The eloquence of our cast members and the demand from our
fans really shows that this film needs to be made, this is a story
that deserves to be told.”
“I think Gaming in Color is
going to change a lot of minds and open a lot of hearts,” he added.
Among those included in the film are
George Skleres, a game engineer at Riot Games, Colleen Macklin,
associate professor at Parsons The New School for Design and director
at PETLab, Matt Conn, founder and CEO of MidBoss and co-founder of
GaymerX and Naomi Clarke, game designer.
