Singer Rufus Wainwright recently said
of turning 40 that he wishes he were 19 again, and a slut.
Wainwright married Jorn Weisbrodt in
2012 in New York. Together they are raising daughter Viva Katherine
Wainwright.
In an interview with gay glossy
Frontiers L.A., Wainwright discussed Vibrate, his
upcoming album, and turning 40.
“I have to correct you,” Wainwright
told Editor-in-Chief Stephan Horbelt, “because [Vibrate
is] not quite a 'greatest hits.' It's more of a 'best of.' People
keep saying 'greatest hits,' but there would only be two tracks.”
“In terms of not having any massive
radio hits, I've managed to maintain a level of integrity and a level
of privacy and still get well-paid for what I do. So, I'm fine with
the 'best of.'”
On turning 40, Wainwright said: “It's
fantastic, if you're able to appreciate what you've learned over the
years. There are still very gay moments when I wish I was 19 and
totally, blissfully ignorant – a slut.”
“A big, gay ol' slut,” he
emphasized with a laugh.
