Marcus Juhlin, a Swedish football
player, has come out on the cover of gay glossy QX.
The 22-year-old Juhlin plays wide
receiver for the Carlstad Crusaders.
Juhlin
told QX
that he was inspired to come out publicly by Michael Sam, the
24-year-old NFL prospect who if drafted would become the league's
first openly gay player.
Juhlin is the first American football
player in Sweden to come out gay.
QX editor in chief Anders Ohrman
told Out
magazine that reaction from teammates and the league has been
supportive.
“They all support and respect him,”
Ohrman said.
In December, Juhlin sent an email to QX
stating: “Please help me come out of the closet and close that door
once and for all.”
Juhlin said he came out in hopes he can
help and inspire other people.
