The State Department on Friday released a gay-inclusive video highlighting Team USA's participation in the 2014 Winter Olympics and Paralympics in Sochi, Russia.

The 1-minute video, titled We Are All Athletes, promotes Team USA's diversity and inclusiveness.

“We may not look the same, or dress the same. We may live in different places. And lead different lives. But we are all athletes,” various athletes say.

“We don't let people tell us who we are, or who we should be,” Chris Brand, goaltender for the New York Lions, a gay hockey team, is heard saying as he walks through the Sky Rink at Chelsea Pier with his arm wrapped around another man.

The video ends with a close up of Brand and the phrase, “We are all athletes.”

The video appears to be a subtle message to Russia, the host of next month's Winter Olympics in Sochi, and its controversial law prohibiting “gay propaganda” to minors.
