New York City's Big Gay Ice Cream is
headed to Los Angeles.
Owners Douglas Quint and Bryan Petroff
are putting down roots in Los Angeles with their first shop after two
highly successful trips in the Big Gay Ice Cream truck.
The
Los Angeles Times reported that the shop will be located in
the up-and-coming Broadway District of Downtown LA, which is anchored
by the Ace Hotel.
Los Angeles-based architect David Hertz
will design the 1,500-square-foot store, the company's first outside
of New York and its largest.
“It's by far the biggest store, about
double the size of the largest one in New York,” Quint told
laist.com.
“We want to make it an LA store. We aren't interested in
duplicating the NYC. The vibe should be fun and interactive. We're
looking at ways to teach people the menu without them having to look
at the menu.”
Doors are set to open in mid- to
late-spring.
