NBC has picked up a comedy with a
lesbian lead produced by Ellen DeGeneres.
According to Deadline,
NBC has given a pilot order to One Big Happy.
The show centers around a best friend
pairing of a lesbian woman and a straight man who decide to have a
baby together.
One Big Happy is written and
executive produced by Liz Feldman (2 Broke Girls), who is
openly gay. Feldman previously put in a two-year stint at DeGeneres'
daytime talk show.
DeGeneres' production company, A Very
Good Production, is also reportedly working on a comedy series
starring DeGeneres' wife of 5 years, actress Portia de Rossi. The
unnamed comedy about dueling sisters, one of whom will be played by
de Rossi, is also heading to NBC.
