John Grant's new video for the single
Glacier ends with an explosion of pink triangles.
It's a fitting ending to a video that
transports viewers through decades of LGBT history, juxtaposing
footage from World War II and the Wizard of Oz, all the way
through Stonewall and Harvey Milk.
There's the Rev. Jesse Jackson
reminding us that America is a quilt and President Barack Obama
vowing to repeal “Don't Ask, Don't Tell.” In its final frames,
Edith Windsor at the Supreme Court.
Then, Frank Ocean comes out and the
stars of Blue is the Warmest Color kiss, and pink triangles
reminiscent of an aging Atari game explode on the screen. (The video
is embedded on this page. Visit
our video library for more videos.)
Grant, who is openly gay and HIV
positive, released Pale Green Ghosts, the second solo album
from the former frontman of The Czars, in March on the Bella Union
label.
