Ellen DeGeneres, Michelle Obama, Thomas Roberts and Wanda Sykes were among those congratulating Robin Roberts on her coming out.

On Sunday, the 53-year-old Roberts, a co-host of ABC's Good Morning America, publicly acknowledged for the first time that she is in a relationship with girlfriend Amber Laign.

“I am grateful for my entire family, my long time girlfriend, Amber, and friends as we prepare to celebrate a glorious new year together,” Roberts wrote in a Facebook post.

“@RobinRoberts I am so happy for you & Amber!” Mrs. Obama tweeted. “You continue to make us all proud. -mo”

White House spokesman Shin Inouye forwarded the tweet, adding, “Agree!”

“Go on with your bad self!” comedian Wanda Sykes tweeted.

MSNBC host Thomas Roberts added: “Hey @RobinRoberts here is to a fantastic 2014! Onward & Upward! Congrats to you and Amber!”

“Big love and respect to you, @RobinRoberts!” singer-songwriter Chely Wright messaged to her more than 46,000 followers.
