Patrick Stiles, star of a Guelph,
Canada production of the musical Joseph and the Amazing
Technicolor Dreamcoat, enlisted cast members to help him propose
marriage to his boyfriend, Mike Kennedy.
As scores of audience members lingered
in the River Run Center's Canada Company Hall after a performance,
Mika's Love Today came on the sound system. A young boy began
to dance, then others joined him in what blossomed into a full dance
production.
Stiles broke away from the dancers and
made his way up to a landing, where he started to sing along to a
rendition of Elton John's Your Song. Kennedy was escorted up
the staircase.
Cheers erupted when Stiles got down on
one knee, produced a ring, and an emotional Kennedy nodded his head
in agreement. (The video is embedded on this page. Visit

“I had no idea,” Kennedy told the
Guelph
Mercury. “I was so surprised. I am so happy.”
“This came off even better than I
expected it would,” Stiles said. “He really didn't have a clue.
And it was amazing. What a huge day – a life-changing day.”
Stiles and Kennedy live in Guelph and
said that they plan on saving for a house before getting hitched.
