Russian actor-director Ivan Okhlobystin
has publicly stated that he wants to “burn homosexuals alive,”
because they are a threat to his children.
The 47-year-old Okhlobystin became
popular in the late 1990s but he left his entertainment career behind
following a religious conversion. He returned to acting in 2010
after his priesthood was suspended and currently stars in the medical
sitcom Interns, which is loosely based on the NBC sitcom
Scrubs.
“I'd put them all alive in the oven.
… it's a living danger to my children,” he is quoted as saying by
the state-run news agency Ria
Novosti.
Okhlobystin, a father of six who made
his comments during an appearance in Novosibirsk, also demanded that
“faggots” be stripped of their right to vote.
“I don't want my children to think
that being a [faggot] is okay,” he said. “It's queer fascism!
If a person can't choose someone similar from the opposite sex for
reproduction, it's a clear sign of a psychic anomaly, it means they
need to be deprived of the vote.”
