Christian conservative Gordon
Klingenschmitt on Thursday claimed that Jesus Christ would command a
married gay couple to get divorced.
Klingenschmitt, a
candidate for the Colorado House, told viewers of his YouTube
show Pray In Jesus Name that in counseling a married gay
couple Jesus would advise them to separate immediately.
“Any sex outside the confines of one
man and one woman is adultery and it is fornication,”
Klingenschmitt said. “And you must be divorced when this happens.
Jesus says, 'Never get divorced, except in this case, then you got to
get divorced.'”
“Jesus, if he were providing marriage
counseling to two gay men who were married, Jesus would command them
to get divorced immediately,” he said, then snapped his fingers.
“I think a good conservative chaplain ought to counsel that. You
need to stop living in sin. You need to repent and live celibate
lives until God gives you a wife or a husband, between one man and
one woman. And then God will bless your marriage.”
“God will never bless a marriage
otherwise,” he
added. (The video is embedded on this page. Visit
