American Idol alum Crystal
Bowersox has announced that she's bisexual.
“Let me set the record straight. I'm
Bi. Pun intended,” Bowersox messaged last week to her more than
60,000 followers on Twitter.
Bowersox sent the tweet roughly a week
after she released a Christmas single about coming home for the
holidays and coming out.
The 28-year-old Bowersox co-wrote
Coming Out For Christmas with Maia Sharp. A portion of the
proceeds from each sale of the song benefits The Trevor Project, which
provides crisis intervention and suicide prevention services to LGBT
youth.
The single's release prompted
speculation about Bowersox's sexual orientation.
Bowersox, the runner-up on the ninth
season of American Idol, has previously released two studio
albums. She is currently preparing to play Patsy Cline in the
Broadway production of Always, Patsy Cline.
Coming Out For Christmas can be
purchased at New
York Rock Exchange.
