Lady Gaga discusses the crafting of her
third studio album ARTPOP, her relationship with Elton John
and how fame has changed her in an interview with Ellen DeGeneres to
be broadcast on Monday.
“Fame has not been the easiest thing
for me,” Lady Gaga said. “And it's because, even though my first
record was called The Fame, I really wasn't in it for the
money and attention no matter what cost. And I think that maybe the
theatrics and my penchant for
entertaining people could be better described by me being an old soul
and somebody who loves show business.”
Lady
Gaga said that ARTPOP is
an escape from the pain she went through as an artist.
“Getting past
level one in the record business is basically the scariest thing that
ever happened to me,” she said.
She added that
Elton John was like a father to her.
“He's
my family,” Lady Gaga said. (A clip from the interview is embedded
