Recent gay rights victories have failed
to eradicate homophobia, Michelangelo Signorile is expected to argue
in his upcoming book Beyond Tolerance.
According to the AP, Signorile's book
will be published by Houghton Mifflin Harcort in 2015. Beyond
Tolerance is the book's working title.
The 52-year-old Signorile, a gay rights
activist with his own SiriusXM radio show mostly devoted to LGBT
issues, has four books under his belt, including Queer in America,
Life Outside, Outing Yourself and Hitting Hard.
In Beyond Tolerance, Signorile –
who has devoted a large portion of his career to the issue of how to
fairly report on closeted public figures – will argue that despite
winning federal marriage recognition, homophobia persists in America.
It's been a big year for Signorile, who
married
historian David Gerstner in New York City in July and appeared in
gay glossy Out's 2012 Out100.
