The CW is developing a family drama which centers on a transgender
teen.
According to Deadline Hollywood, ZE is written by
Brooklyn-based writer-playwright Kyle Jarrow (A Very Merry
Unauthorized Children's Scientology Pageant, Whisper House),
executive produced by Michael London (Milk), and is being
produced by CBS TV Studios.
The show's storyline revolves around a FTM (female-to-male) teen
living in Texas who publicly announces her gender identity and will
be living as a boy.
“As his dysfunctional family spirals into identity crises of
their own, he discovers that he might be the most well-adjusted of
them all,” Deadline
Hollywood wrote.
ZE is expected to be the first primetime show with a
transgender character played by a transgender actor.
Jarrow also penned the upcoming indie film Saint Janet.
