Macklemore and Ryan Lewis appeared on Chelsea Lately where host Chelsea Handler asked the musical duo whether they were gay.

Rapper Macklemore and producer Lewis won the award for Best Video with a Social Message at Sunday's MTV Video Music Awards for their gay marriage anthem Same Love music video. The pair also performed Same Love along with guest vocalists Mary Lambert and Jennifer Hudson.

Macklemore talked about his childhood obsession with the musical Cats.

“In defense of Cats, that does sound pretty gay,” Handler said.

“Yes, it's where the line from Same Love comes – 'When I was in the third grade, I thought I was gay' – it's from me loving Cats as a kid.”

“How did you find out you weren't?”

“I started using my penis,” Macklemore responded.

Later Handler asked, “How did you meet?”

“We met on MySpace,” Lewis answered to giggles from the audience. “Twenty-five years ago.”

Macklemore threw his hands up the air and joked: “Alright, fine, we're gay.” (The video is embedded on this page. Visit our video library for more videos.)
