YouTube star Lucas Cruikshank has come out gay.

The 19-year-old Cruikshank was asked by a fan whether he's gay in a video uploaded on Tuesday.

In the two-and-a-half minute clip, Cruikshank and gal pal Jennifer Veal sit in a bed and answer questions from Twitter followers.

“Are you gay?” nerf915 asks.

“Gay,” Veal says.

Cruikshank throws his hands up in the air and answers: “I'm gay!”

“My family and friends have known for like three years,” he adds. “I just haven't felt the need to announce it on the Internet.”

“Now you all know that he likes boys and not me,” Veal later says. (The video is embedded on this page. Visit our video library for more videos.)

Fellow celebrity YouTube stars congratulated Cruikshank.

“I love you. Proud of you,” Michael Buckley tweeted.

“fine then lucas i'll call off the wedding,” Gianna Grandeee messaged.

Cruikshank created the character Fred Figglehorn, a 6-year-old boy who has anger management issues. Cruikshank's Fred channel on YouTube was the first to reach one million subscribers in 2008. The channel's success led to three movies based on the Fred character which were broadcast on cabler Nickelodeon. The latest film, Fred 3: Camp Fred, included Tom Arnold and John Cena.
