Zimbabwe President Robert Mugabe has threatened to “chop off”
the heads of gay men who cannot reproduce.
According to Newsday
Zimbabwe, Mugabe criticized President Barack Obama for linking
foreign aid to gay rights and threatened to behead gay men during a
speech Tuesday in front of thousands of Zanu-PF supporters. Zanu-PF
is Zimbabwe's ruling party, which is headed by Mugabe.
“If you take men and lock them in a house for five years and
tell them to come up with two children and they fail to do that, then
we will chop off their heads,” Mugabe said. “This thing
[homosexuality] seeks to destroy our lineage by saying John and John
should wed, Maria and Maria should wed. Imagine this son born out of
an African father. Obama says if you want aid, you should accept the
homosexuality practice. Aah, we will never do that.”
Last year, at a stadium event celebrating his 88th
birthday, Mugabe rejected similar pressure from British Prime
Minister David Cameron, saying that he was less than a dog.
“Nature is nature. It has created male and female. You David
Cameron, are you suggesting that you don't know that or is it some
kind of insanity or part of the culture of Europeans?”
“That's how we were born, so we reject that outright and say to
hell with you. I won't even call him a dog because my own dog will
complain and say, but what have I done,” Mugabe added.
