Last week, the San Francisco Gay Men's
Chorus helped celebrate the marriage of Proposition 8 plaintiffs Kris
Perry and Sandy Stier.
The couple married in San Francisco
City Hall moments after an appeals court ruled California's gay
marriage ban invalid following a Supreme Court order.
Standing inside City Hall's rotunda,
the group sang an excerpt of a new song called San Francisco
from Andrew Lippa's oratorio I Am Harvey Milk. The chorus
premiered the work days before during its 35th anniversary
concert Harvey Milk 2013.
A video posted online Thursday,
includes footage of the chorus singing San Francisco and Give
'Em Hope, Harvey Milk's catchphrase. Among those seen in the
footage attending the ceremony are San Francisco Mayor Ed Lee, Human
Rights Campaign (HRC) President Chad Griffin and Oscar-winning Milk
scribe Dustin Lance Black.
The four-and-a-half minute video also
includes footage of the celebrations that followed after the high
court's ruling. (The video is embedded on this page. Visit
