The Talk co-hosts Sara Gilbert and Aisha Tyler on Thursday discussed two Supreme Court rulings related to gay marriage.

The high court released the decisions on Wednesday. Together they mean that California is likely to become the 13th state, plus the District of Columbia, to allow gay nuptials, and that the federal government must recognize those unions.

Gilbert, who recently became engaged to her partner, said that reading the rulings she became emotional.

“When I read the ruling, you know, I burst into tears,” Gilbert said. “And I couldn't believe … I think you don't realize how much emotion you have around maybe feeling like people think of you as a second-class citizen.”

Gilbert stressed that despite the wins, gay couples in 37 states cannot marry.

“The march for equality kind of rages on,” she said.

An emotional Tyler added: “You know, I love being married and I would love for everybody to have the same kind of joy that I get out of it.” (The video is embedded on this page. Visit our video library for more videos.)
