Ellen DeGeneres' daytime talk show and
actor Chandler Massey were among those recognized during Sunday's
Daytime Emmy Awards.
The Ellen DeGeneres Show won in
the competitive entertainment talk show category for the seventh
time.
Mary Connolly, the show's executive
producer, accepted the award.
“Ten years ago the idea of Ellen
DeGeneres hosting a talk show made a lot of people nervous,”
Connolly said. “We hope people realize 10 years later that there's
absolutely nothing to be nervous about.”
Chandler Massey won his second
consecutive Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Younger Actor in a Drama
Series for his portrayal of Will Horton on the daytime soap opera
Days of our Lives.
The 22-year-old Massey edged out
Freddie Smith, who plays his onscreen boyfriend, to win the younger
actor honors.
In accepting his award, Massey called
Smith a “phenomenal” actor.
“This isn't fair, because I have the
best actor to work alongside. And it's Freddie Smith. Freddie you
are phenomenal! You are absolutely incredible. And it's my
privilege to work with you,” Massey said.
Days of our Lives won for best
daytime drama.
