Magic Johnson, Neil Patrick Harris and
Senator Rob Portman are among the fathers lauded in a video by the
Human Rights Campaign (HRC), the nation's largest LGBT advocate.
“These dads' stories have inspired us
and advanced the fight for full LGBT equality,” HRC says in its
90-second Father's Day tribute.
Johnson, whose son E.J. recently came
out gay, is seen in an appearance on the David Letterman Show
saying that he loves his son.
“I love my son to death and I really
don't care who likes it or don't like it. I love my son and I'm
gonna always support him,” Johnson says to a loud round of applause from the
audience.
Citing his son's coming out, Portman in
March became the first Republican U.S. senator to endorse gay
marriage.
“My son came to Jane, my wife, and I
… told us that he was gay,” Portman is seen saying in a CNN
interview. “And that it was not a choice. And that he had been
that way ever since he could remember. I now believe that people
ought to have the right to get married.”
Finally, Harris and his partner David
Burtka are seen discussing raising twins in an interview with Oprah
Winfrey.
“It came because we really, really
wanted kids,” Harris says. “These kids come into our world with
nothing but love.” (The video is embedded on this page. Visit
