A Christian website on Monday chided Chipotle Mexican Grill for promoting sodomy.

The story, titled Chipotle Tex-Mex Chain, Founded by Open Homosexual, Promoting Sodomy in Pride Parades Nationwide, from Christian News Network pointed to the restaurant chain's participation in the Capital Pride parade in Washington, D.C. and the Philly Pride parade in Philadelphia.

The outlet reported: “During both events, the chain utilized a float upon which sat a man riding a giant burrito wrapped in tin foil. On the side of the float was a sign that read 'So big you can ride it,' with an image of a rainbow-wrapped burrito in the center.”

Chipotle was founded in 1993 by Steve Ells. The publicly traded company has more than 1,400 locations in 43 U.S. states, Washington, D.C., two Canadian provinces, the United Kingdom and France, and employs more than 37,310 people.

Ells and Montgomery Moran serve as co-CEOs of the company. Ells also serves as the company's chairman.

In a Time profile published last year, Ells, 47, was described as having a long term boyfriend.

While the Christian News piece only alleges “sodomy promotion” in its title, it cites Ells' sexual orientation as a likely “factor in the company's activism.”
