Indianapolis Colts quarterback Andrew
Luck says he would be okay if a teammate came out gay.
Speaking to CNN in London, Luck, 23,
said he would hope the NFL would welcome a gay player.
“I mean it's the 21st
Century,” Luck said.
“And I know I would have absolutely
no problem with it. I hope no one would treat him any differently
than any straight player. You know, no special treatment, he's
another guy.”
“It's not our business, you know
[the] sexual preference of people. So, you know, I hope if someone
is thinking about it, that they do come out as gay and are a
professional football player and it makes them happy and it makes
their life easier then I think they should do it.”
Luck added that he would be
disappointed if teammates reacted negatively.
“If it does come, I mean, I'd be
disappointed if there was a negative reaction among players,” he
said.
