NBC has released a trailer for the upcoming comedy Sean Saves The World, which stars Sean Hayes as a gay dad and Linda Lavin (Barney Miller, Alice) as his overbearing mother.

In the show, Hayes plays a divorced gay dad who has his hands full juggling work and teenage daughter Ellie (played by newcomer Sami Isler). Thomas Lennon (Reno 911!, The State) plays Sean's eccentric new boss Max.

The comedy from Better Off Ted creator Victor Fresco marks Hayes' return to television in a starring role since playing Jack McFarland on NBC's groundbreaking sitcom Will & Grace.

In a 2010 interview with gay glossy The Advocate, Hayes announced he's gay but insisted he was “never in.”

“I am who I am. I was never in, as they say. Never,” he said, explaining that he had never faked a straight relationship.
