Gay men can reportedly marry and raise
a family in Nintendo's life simulation game Tomodachi Collection:
New Life.
According to Kotaku.com, the latest
version of Nintendo's take on The Sims allows male Mii
characters to marry other males. However, women cannot marry other
women.
Previous versions of the game, released
only in Japan for the Nintendo DS, did not allow same-gender unions.
“In Japan, some Tomodachi
Collection: New Life owners seem thrilled by the bug, posting
photos of their gay couples online,” the
blog wrote. “In the images, male Mii characters ask each other
to go steady, propose marriage, go on honeymoons, bathe together and
raise children.”
According to one Twitter user, Nintendo
says it is aware of the issue and is preparing a patch. But it's
uncertain whether that means allowing lesbian relationships or
removing the feature.
