Ernst & Young LLP and the Cleveland
Foundation on Wednesday announced corporate sponsorship of Gay Games
2014, which will take place in Cleveland, Ohio next August.
The 9th iteration of the
games will be named the 2014 Gay Games presented by the Cleveland
Foundation after the organization became the games' first presenting
sponsor.
“We are thrilled the Cleveland
Foundation has stepped up with such a significant and public show of
support for the 2014 Gay Games,” Gay Games co-chair Hollie Ksiezyk
said in a statement.
“The Cleveland Foundation is proud to
be the presenting sponsor,” said Ronald B. Richard, president and
chief executive officer of the Cleveland Foundation. “It provides
us the opportunity to express our strong support for social justice
and equality for the LGBT community.”
The organization announced that Ernst
& Young is the first national sponsor of the event with a
$100,000 donation.
Games Executive Director Thomas Nobbe
said that the event is expected to draw about 30,000 people to
Cleveland and Akron, including 11,000 participants.
