Singer Freddie Mercury smuggled Princess Diana into a gay club dressed as a man, a new book claims.

In her new book, The Power of Positive Drinking, comedian Cleo Rocos claims that she and Kenny Everett accompanied Mercury and Princess Diana to the Royal Vauxhall Tavern in south London in the late 1980s. The princess was dress as a man, wearing an army jacket, cap and sunglasses.

“When we walked in … we felt she was obviously Princess Diana and would be discovered at any minute. But people just seemed to blank her. She sort of disappeared. But she loved it.” Rocos wrote.

“She did look like a beautiful young man,” she said.

Rocos added that Diana was able to order drinks undetected as Mercury, Everett and herself diverted the crowd's attention.
