British illusionist and hypnotist
Derren Brown is planning to turn a straight man gay.
The 41-year-old Brown is known in
Britain for his televised supernatural specials in which he uses mind
control to get unwitting participants to do outrageous things.
“I was thinking about this the other
day – it would be interesting wouldn't it?” Brown, who is openly
gay, told UK gay glossy
Gay Times.
“To take a gay guy and make him straight and a straight guy and
make him gay.”
In Derren Brown: The Experiments,
Brown hypnotized a person to “assassinate” actor Stephen Fry.
And in last year's two-part special Derren Brown: Apocalypse,
Brown convinced a man that he was the last person remaining on Earth
after it had been devastated by a meteor shower and taken over by
zombies.
The shows have generated huge ratings
and controversy.
“Controversy has never interested me
for its own sake,” he said. “It's always been about doing stuff
that feels dramatic.”
Brown came out gay in a 2007 interview
with the Independent.
