Minnesota Vikings punter Chris Kluwe has said the debate on gay marriage in the locker room has been “very respectful.”

Kluwe is among the small number of NFL players who are speaking out in favor of the issue.

Another player is Baltimore Ravens linebacker Brendon Ayanbadejo.

Ayanbadejo, whose team will play in Sunday's Super Bowl, told CBS News from New Orleans that younger players in the NFL are more open.

“The young guys now coming in to the NFL are a lot more open minded, a lot more progressive,” Ayanbadejo said. “And it's an idea of where we are going as a nation.”

When asked if anyone had asked him to keep quiet on the issue, Kluwe said, “Nope, haven't had that.”

“It's been very respectful. And I think part of that also comes down to the fact that guys in the locker room realize that we are there to win football games. At the end of the day, I don't get paid for making political statements.” (Watch the entire segment at CBS News' YouTube channel.)
