top of the line unit will run you about $400-500 and will do
everything. These units have a 3+ mile range and will tell you the
direction, speed, and level. These units however are large and need
to be mounted on a vehicle. Some of the more portable units are
hand-held or work much like a monocle. The hand-held versions tend to
have a small screen or indicator to tell you the direction and rough
distance. The monocles usually highlight the target and show the
distance and sometimes even the level. Some cheaper units simply tell
you how close but no direction. These units can be purchased for
under $100 and tend to be pretty reliable. Your local Wal-Mart should
have various options in their electronics section. Some Gun and
Security stores also stock Gaydar.”
