Nominations for the 70th
annual Golden Globe Awards include out actors Jim Parsons and Sarah
Paulson.
Parsons was nominated for his work on
the CBS comedy The Big Bang Theory in the Best Performance by
an Actor in Television Series – Comedy or Musical category. He'll
compete against Alec Baldwin (30 Rock), Don Cheadle (House
of Lies), Louis C.K. (Louie) and Matt LeBlanc (Episodes).
Paulson is nominated for her work on
the HBO show Game Change in the Best Performance by an Actress
in a Supporting Role in a Series, Mini-series or Motion Picture Made
for Television category. Also nominated is Archie Panjabi, who plays
bisexual Kalinda Sharma on the CBS drama The Good Wife. They
will compete against Hayden Panettiere (Nashville), Maggie
Smith (Downton Abbey) and Sofia Vergara (Modern Family).
Eric Stonestreet received a best
supporting actor nomination for his role as gay dad Cameron Tucker on
the ABC comedy Modern Family. Also nominated in the category
are Max Greenfield (New Girl), Ed Harris (Game Change),
Danny Huston (Magic City) and Mandy Patinkin (Homeland).
Four out of the five shows nominated in
the Best Television Series – Comedy or Musical category include
LGBT characters: Episodes, Girls, Modern Family and
Smash. Also nominated is The Big Bang Theory.
Winners will be announced on January
13.
