Ricky Martin has suggested he won't be
a tough judge/coach on Australia's reality singing contest The
Voice.
The 40-year-old Martin is headed down
under to replace departing judge Keith Urban. He'll join returning
judges Joel Madden, Seal and Delta Goodrem.
“Yes, I'm going to be part of The
Voice family in Australia,” Martin confirmed to the AP. “And
it is a very big opportunity for me to see and experience and be part
of the beginning of the musical career of new talented people. It
would be such an honor.”
“People ask, 'Are you going to be
tough on them?' And I don't know yet. I don't believe in tough
love. I believe in love. And I believe in being nurturing to new
talented men and women out there.”
Martin will give his farewell
performance as Che in the Broadway revival of the Andrew Lloyd Webber
musical Evita on Saturday, January 26. He is expected to
arrive in Australia in February.
