Ricky Martin will replace departing
coach/judge Keith Urban on Australia's reality talent contest The
Voice.
According to gay website
SameSame.com.au,
Martin is headed down under for the show's second season.
“Sending some mad love to everyone in
#Australia! Cant wait to go back! Peace!” Martin tweeted to his
more than 7.5 million followers.
The openly gay singer will join the
returning judges Joel Madden, Seal and Delta Goodrem.
Martin “brings huge experience to our
panel of coaches, which he'll pass on to our Australian Voice
artists in 2013,” said Nine Network's director of television
Michael Healy. “Most of all, we think he's the perfect addition.”
The 40-year-old Martin will give his
farewell performance as Che in the Broadway revival of the Andrew
Lloyd Webber musical Evita on Saturday, January 26. He is
expected to arrive in Australia in February.
