Producers of the lesbian romantic
comedy Portrait of a Serial Monogamist are looking for backers
to help fund their project.
The film is being pitched by
writers/directors Christina Zeidler and John Mitchell on the funding
site Indiegogo.com.
Zeidler and Mitchell released a trailer
for their upcoming film earlier this month.
The film centers on Elsie Neufeld
(played by Diane Flacks), a 40-something lesbian living and working
in Toronto. Elsie is described as charming and successful but a
“complete mess” when it comes to romance. The television
producer breaks up with her longtime girlfriend Robyn (Carolyn
Taylor) to pursue another woman who, it turns out, might not be
interested in a relationship. (The film's trailer is embedded on
this page. Visit
our video library for more videos.)
Producers are looking to raise $60,000
in the next 30 days to complete the film, $10,000 of which has
already been pledged. A $200 “Goin' Steady” contribution
includes an invitation to the movie's set to watch it being filmed.
Toronto's blogTO.com
recently included the film in a list of Indiegogo.com projects “worth
taking note of.”
