Anderson Cooper and Suze Orman traded gay references with each other during Monday's Anderson Live!

Financial guru Orman joined Cooper at the show's coffee table.

Orman told Cooper that she would be leery of a person who attempted to impress on a first date, adding that frugality is a good characteristic to look for in a significant other.

Cooper, who is openly gay, shared a story about dating a woman in college who expected to be impressed.

“In college, I briefly dated a girl – believe me it didn't go anywhere ...” Cooper joked to laughter from the audience.

“I dated a girl too and that did go somewhere,” Orman, who married Kathy Travis two years ago in South Africa, interrupted. “But that's beside the point.”

“She was very sort of fancy and she was beautiful and she was like a model and stuff and I don't know what I was doing ...”

“Obviously,” Orman stated.

“I think she expected lots of fancy meals, so for the first 5 dates I took her to Tony Roma's ribs.”

“So anyway, that didn't go anywhere, as you can imagine.”

Coupons are good. Look for frugal behavior,” Orman advised the audience. (The video is embedded on this page. Visit our video library for more videos.)
