Rashida Jones has apologized for asking
John Travolta to come out of the closet.
“Made a thoughtless comment about
John Travolta,” Jones tweeted to nearly 144,000 followers. “I
sincerely apologize. Nobody's personal life is my business.”
Several men, some of whom are masseurs,
have accused the 58-year-old Travolta of attempting to initiate sex
with them.
But even before the allegations
surfaced, Travolta was hounded by rumors that he is gay.
Jones
(Parks and Recreation)
was reversing course on remarks she made late last week in an
interview with SpinningPlatters.com.
“There needs to be, like, a
professional athlete that comes out,” Celeste and Jesse Forever
co-writer Will McCormack said.
“And a movie star!” said Jones.
“Like John Travolta? Come out! Come on. How many masseurs have
to come forward? Let's do it.”
“Big stars need to come out,” she
added. “Ricky Martin was huge. That was big; I was really happy
about that … People are so precious about their careers.”
